Thank you!

Thanks for all the emails, phone calls and comments here on my blog and on Facebook.  I appreciate it more than words can ever express!!!

I wanted to let you all know that I'm not too terribly worried!  I'm worried …but not sick with it.  I may change my mind once we get close to the 22nd!!  You may want to add David to your prayer list …. since I'm a big baby when it comes to medical stuff he's going to have to deal with a lot!!!

I had a few people ask me how I found out I had a mass on my Thyroid …so here it goes.

Chase's surgery was in April and we had to put Sissy to sleep in June ….. in between all that….. I started losing hair …clumps of it in the shower and I was TIRED all the time.  I could drink a cup of coffee and go right to sleep.  And when you're tired you're also very grumpy.  I thought I was depressed.  After dealing with Chase's tumor I felt I needed to at least get a check up from my doctor.

Long story short …ultrasound showed the mass … oddly enough the blood work didn't show anything out of whack …. but both of my doctors have said they see that all the time. Before they told me that I would swear they switched my blood …how could I feel so horrible and my blood work be normal?

So what I'm really trying to say is I'm so thankful we found the problem.  The past few months have been very trying to say the least  …but as many of you have reminded me… God doesn't give us any more than we can handle … I guess maybe I could argue with that …but overall this is just a bump in the road and when I look around me I am a very blessed woman and so very thankful!!!

I'll be back later today with a project to share with you.

See ya soon!

  1. I have a thyroid condition since I was a teenager and three years ago I ended up having my thyroid taken out because of questionable cells. Turns out that it was not cancerous at all. I continue to take my medication and all is well. I hope that all will go well with your surgery.

  2. Angie, this has been a tough year for you. I guess we all need to take one day at a time and focus on the NOW instead of what has happened and what might happen. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Have followed your blog of about two years. Enjoy learning from you.

  4. Hi Angie,
I am praying for you, too, and hope you get a clean bill of health on the 22nd. Thank you for sharing your story with your blog followers! All of us should do a simple “neck check” (see http://www.thyca.org to see how) and ask our doctors/dds to examine us during our annual/semi-annual visits. So simple! Many of us had no symptoms of thyroid disease at all, and the commonly ordered blood work is typically normal. Next month is National Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month, so that’s a good reminder to get checked! Angie, I know you will be just fine, and you posting your story to the thousands of people who follow you might just save a life! Thank you!

  5. Dear Angie,

    You are in my prayers.
I just wanted to share that I had my thyroid removed 2 years ago because of a lump. It was cancer-free, but kept getting bigger. I too had normal blood tests, which is a good sign. I don’t want to sound too optimistic, but even if it’s cancer, all they do is get it out. If you get to choose which cancer you want, it’s the best one to have. That’s what the specialist told me in 2009!
Now I take a pill once every morning to replace the hormone that is no longer produced by my missing thyroid, and I feel fine. Since I am exercising and slowly losing some weight, I need a blood test every 4 months to make sure I have the right dose. See, the dose is usually prescribed according to your weight.
Maybe you knew all of this already, but I wanted to share because the more we know, the less fear we have.
You’re a strong and inspiring woman and mom to me Angie.
    Take care,
    Stephanie (from Quebec, Canada) xx

  6. Having dealt with thyroid disease most of my life, I can honestly say I know how you feel — unbelievably TIRED! Mine was overactive, so also had the racing heartbeat issue. Finally, after several years of medication, it became enlarged, or ‘hot’, as the dr. described it. I had most of my thyroid removed. Now, just take a couple pills every day. I feel blessed that it is that easy of a fix. Praying yours is easily regulated as well. Take care and keep God in your journey. You’re in my prayers. If you just need to talk or ask questions, I’d be happy to let you bounce them off me.

  9. I feel I have failed by not following your emails very closely. I was totally unaware that you had been going through all these trails. I have spoken with you on the phone when placing an order and thought you were charming. I want you to know you are NOW in my prayers and I will follow more closely. I get caught up with life but that truly is not excuse. Love Sharon…a fellow card make…amatuer that I am.
