Squares & Diamonds Quilt

If you're a fan of Quilting with the Big Shot I  just posted a new video on my quilting site (http://www.chicknscratch.com).   Click on the button below to go there now.

ChicknScratchButton Thanks!!

Running behind & my health :(

I figured it's time I do some explaining so that everyone knows the whole story.  Before I begin…..I'm sorry I didn't post all the details sooner!!  I try to keep my blog professional and & keep the personal stuff to a minimum….in my attempts to do that I've not only confused you all but myself as well. (Some of you already know the whole story and in my mind because a few know ……everyone knows….in blogging sometimes that's the case).

So, in October I injured myself at the gym.  When it all began…I thought it was a sinus infection because I was also feeling sick. (Turns out I was dealing with two issues…not one.)  After the chest xrays I was told I had a pulled muscle (huge knot between my neck and shoulder….made sense at the time).  For two weeks straight I took pain meds, muscle relaxers and steriods….and bought a new pillow.  But the pain would not go away…in fact it was getting worse.

So, I went to a different doctor and it turns out ….I pulled my 1st rib out and my levator muscle is what's been giving me TROUBLE!   I've been in and out of the doctors office, she had to put a sling on my arm so that I wouldn't use the left side of my body.  I've taken off the sling (removed it Sunday)…but I still have to limit how much I use my left side and still no lifting or house cleaning …because every movement I make…uses that muscle. (That also means the 8 quilts I was making for Christmas will not happen.)

I'm explaining all this because I'm a tad behind…maybe even more than a tad and I'm going as fast as I can…but it's 7:30 now and I've been working since 7am and the pain has arrived….that means it's time to shut it down.

If you're new to my blog.. sorry to be such a downer…I promise this isn't the normal.

If you sent me an email asking about my arm….sorry I didn't reply.  Because I've been typing one handed for more than a week…I put those off.  Let me just say …..I love my left arm and had no idea how much I used it!!!

Thanks for caring and listening!!

Have a good night 🙂

p.s. For the next 24 hours I'm going to struggle with keeping this post on here….if you read it and find it gone later…you'll know I couldn't handle it.  I feel like I have a bad case of TMI (too much info).

Christmas Present Scallop Box

Tall-Top-Note-Present
Isn't this box too cute!!!  When I got home from the doctors office yesterday I had a package on my kitchen counter waiting for me.   And when I opened it up….Colleen had sent me three darling boxes.  I couldn't get to my computer fast enough to tell her thank you …..what's so ironic about it….. is…..yesterday I posted the snowman soup box using the exact same tall top note box. Isn't it funny how we both came up with the same idea…..but yet our boxes look totally different.

Colleen, thank you so very much!! I love all three 🙂

Here's the supply list for Colleen's box:  Scallop Square Die #115950, Jolly Holiday Designer Paper #117159, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding #120992.  And she added Crystal Effects #101055 to all the Cherry Cobbler dots…..it's sooo cute!!

Speaking of three boxes…..since next week is Thanksgiving and Chase's 18th birthday. I'll be taking some time off.   In my absense I will be posting projects sent to me from friends, downlines, upline..etc.   I'll show you the other two boxes Colleen sent.  I'm so very thankful for how blessed my life is and for all my friends in the stamping community!  Thank you all!!  (Okay I know I'm supposed to say this next week but I'm saying it now because you all will be busy too and may not make it next week.)

Have a great weekend and hope to see you tomorrow during my Stamp with Chic n Scratch on Ustream.

p.s.  If you've thought about becoming a demo and want to ask me questions…I'll be hosting two segments on UStream tomorrow.  At 2pm…(central time) we'll be stamping & at 3:30 I'll be doing a Q&A on the business opportunity.

Snowman Soup Scallop Box

Snowman-Soup-Scallop-Box
Isn't this a darling Snowman Soup Box?

Until last week my Scallop Square Die was feeling a little neglected….so I broke it out of hiding and I have a Scallop Squares & Triangle Quilt and a Snowman Soup box.

I love how I can switch back and forth between fabric and card stock with the Big Shot Dies.  The reason I bring that up is I've been ask if I use one for fabric and one for card stock.  The answer is no …..I use it on both…literally from one to the other.

Click here if you'd like to watch a video on how to make this Scallop Snowman Soup Box over on my Chic n Scratch Live! website.

Blessing Mix Box

Blessing-Mix-2010We made a couple versions of the Blessing Mix Box ….. Saturday on UStream.  And over the next couple days I’ll share them with you.

For this Blessing Mix Box I used the Box #2 Die and embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink.

I printed the Poem on Very Vanilla card stock and added it to a Scallop Circle from the Scallop Circles #2 die. I used the Days of Gratitude stamp set to stamp around the edges and sponged it with More Mustard.

I added the ingredients into a Small Cello Bag and tied it with the Chocolate Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. The ingredients include, Bugles, Pretzels, Candy Corn, Peanuts & Orange Slices.  I’ve posted the poem on the left side bar….scroll down mid way.   I’m working on the pdf and will get it posted later today (6 to a page verses one).

The final piece was adding the Antique Brad in the corner.

I’ve filmed a video and it’s ready to go….click here to watch it on my Chic n Scratch Live! website.

Here’s the Blessing Mix Poem.

The Bugles are a symbol of the Cornucopia, a horn of plenty.

The Pretzels represent arms folded in Thanks & Prayer.

The Candy Corn reminds us that during the first winter, the pilgrims were allowed only five kernels of corn per day.

because the food was scarce.

The Fruit is a reminder that Thanksgiving is the celebration

of the harvest.

The Peanuts represent seeds, the potential of the bounteous

harvest of the next season if they are planted & well-tended.

A Very Big THANK YOU goes out to everyone that put up with me on Saturday during the live stream on UStream……  even though I didn’t feel good you all were very nice and I love you!!

Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow!!

Thank you for stopping by 🙂

Sweet Snowglobe Bag

Snowglobe-bag
Don't you love the Sweet Snowglobe stamp from the Holiday Mini Catalog?

When I started this Top Note bag …I was going to use Baja Breeze….but the more I worked with it …I just had to go with the Crumb Cake and Early Espresso

The "Wishing you a Merry Christmas" came from the Jolly Old Saint Nick stamp set and how can you not use the Sweet Treat cups with the Snowglobe?

The almost invisible snowflakes you see in the background is from the Serene Snowflakes stamp set and I stamped off using Crumb Cake.  I used the Moonlight Smooch Accent ink to color inside the snowflakes.

Click here if you'd like to watch the video on how I made this Top Note Bag using the Mini Lunch Sacks from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Me again :O

Ignore my previous post….I’ve totally confused a bunch of people.

So…..I made some changes.  Ignore the first email newsletter I sent some of you and please follow the instructions on the 2nd one (the process will be easier & a whole lot faster).

If you did not receive a newsletter….ignore all of this 🙂

I try to shorten my sentences and make things easier and sometimes in the process I make it more confusing.

So, the whole story is……  I have thousands of contacts on my mailing list …. but I also have almost 4,000 people that don’t open the emails.  I called Constant Contact today and they were very nice and very easy to work with.  They agreed that although I have a large open percentage…my open rate stays the same.  Long story short some of those emails are old ones that people no longer check. And no hard feelings ….but ….. that’s like throwing dollar bills out the window.   So, my only choice is to try to weed out the old ones (again…old ones means dead email addresses that are never checked….who doesn’t have one they no longer use?).

I want all of you to remain on my list…please!!  My intent was not to get rid of any of you….all I wanted to do was elminate the addresses that aren’t being used.

I apologize for freaking some of you out! I’m human I make mistakes and have no problem saying I should have let someone proof read it.   It’s also reminds me to never talk on the phone and type!!!

Have a good night and I’ll see you tomorrow.

p.s. tomorrow you can expect my 12 weeks of Halloween newsletter and the 12 weeks of Christmas will go out Thursday.
