Running behind & my health :(

I figured it's time I do some explaining so that everyone knows the whole story.  Before I begin…..I'm sorry I didn't post all the details sooner!!  I try to keep my blog professional and & keep the personal stuff to a minimum….in my attempts to do that I've not only confused you all but myself as well. (Some of you already know the whole story and in my mind because a few know ……everyone knows….in blogging sometimes that's the case).

So, in October I injured myself at the gym.  When it all began…I thought it was a sinus infection because I was also feeling sick. (Turns out I was dealing with two issues…not one.)  After the chest xrays I was told I had a pulled muscle (huge knot between my neck and shoulder….made sense at the time).  For two weeks straight I took pain meds, muscle relaxers and steriods….and bought a new pillow.  But the pain would not go away…in fact it was getting worse.

So, I went to a different doctor and it turns out ….I pulled my 1st rib out and my levator muscle is what's been giving me TROUBLE!   I've been in and out of the doctors office, she had to put a sling on my arm so that I wouldn't use the left side of my body.  I've taken off the sling (removed it Sunday)…but I still have to limit how much I use my left side and still no lifting or house cleaning …because every movement I make…uses that muscle. (That also means the 8 quilts I was making for Christmas will not happen.)

I'm explaining all this because I'm a tad behind…maybe even more than a tad and I'm going as fast as I can…but it's 7:30 now and I've been working since 7am and the pain has arrived….that means it's time to shut it down.

If you're new to my blog.. sorry to be such a downer…I promise this isn't the normal.

If you sent me an email asking about my arm….sorry I didn't reply.  Because I've been typing one handed for more than a week…I put those off.  Let me just say …..I love my left arm and had no idea how much I used it!!!

Thanks for caring and listening!!

Have a good night 🙂

Order Stampin' Up!

p.s. For the next 24 hours I'm going to struggle with keeping this post on here….if you read it and find it gone later…you'll know I couldn't handle it.  I feel like I have a bad case of TMI (too much info).

  1. Well, Angie, it is a very good thing that it is finally figured out and you can be on the mend!!!! It always takes time (I have chronic pain, and know EXACTLY what you are dealing with) and we sometimes don’t give ourselves that time to heal. Take the time, give yourself some time off…..don’t do club for Dec, don’t post every day, and people will understand!!! Your loyal followers are just that….LOYAL!!!
Take care of yourself, and thank you for explaining! Never too much information. You probably don’t realize how much your loyal followers care, and how it relieves us (me, anyway! 🙂 ) to hear that you are on the mend. Take some time off!!!!!! Enjoy Christmas!!!!! and I will still be here when you are back!!! 🙂 take care! Terilee

  5. Bless your heart Angie. Yes, people love you anyway and what gets done, gets done and what doesn’t, doesn’t matter. So, only do what is absolutely necessary and taking care of yourself is what is necessary. 😉 Happy Holidays to You and Your family. ((hugs))

  9. Hi Angie!

Hope things get better for you quickly! I know how you feel – I’ve been having health problems for the past year and I also find it hard to know if I should talk about it on the blog or not – so far I’ve been going with the “put on a brave” face and be positive way – but sometimes I think if I talked about it on the blog it would help people understand why I’m not my normal self!!

  11. Angie—make sure and take care of yourself. As was said earlier, your loyal followers will be here when your health/pain allows you to return. We all hope you heal quickly but if that means we don’t get to read new posts every day, we’ll all understand. Take care! =)

I wish you the best and do rest.
I did my first how to video about an ATG tape holder. I would love for you to see it. I have a couple to give away.

  14. Not TMI! You have some serious “stuff” going on and deserve to have some sympathy and time to take care of yourself. I kind of like the notion of no housecleaning; but not giving up all other activities. Take good care of yourself. MJ

  15. Angie,
Although I’m very new at following your blog, I’ve fallen very much in love with your creativity, ideas, humor, and your loyalness to your blog and readers! I’ve only been coming to your page for less than a month, but I swear everyday I’m finding something new :). Just as Lynn has already said, there are enough ideas on here to keep us all busy for quite sometime.
I’m a mother of 5 kids and I’ve had 3 herniated disks in my back which have all resulted in surgeries. I too found myself not being able to “slow down” as the doctor ordered, but I tell you, after my 2nd surgery and re-injuring myself I’ve learned that I have to listen. I HAD to take time away from crafting for about 6 weeks. I tried limiting myself but sadly when I get going I loose track of time and before I knew it I had been sitting for hours. I just kept saying “Only 10 more minutes,” and those 10 minutes turned into lots of 10 minutes’ lol. Your body needs time to heal. Please don’t feel bad for taking time off, or being away from your blog. We all want you to come back and share so much more, and if you push yourself to the limit it ultimately could hinder you in the future from getting back 100%.
I know there are several people that have been following you a lot longer than I have, but I hope I speak for them too when I ask you to please, please take some time off and allow your body to heal the way it needs to! We will all be here, no matter how long it takes 🙂
    Keep your head up!! ~Bambi~

  16. From experience I can tell you that with that popped out rib, a Chiropractor can help you almost instantly, followed by alternate heat and cold or whatever he/she recommends. Try it, you’ll be thrilled

  21. Oh, Angie, how terrible! Do what the doctor says. Did he recommend physical therapy, or wouldn’t that help in a case like this? We’ll miss some of your wonderful ideas for a while, but your health is more important.

  22. I’m so sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. I hope you are on the mends and definitely do what the doctor says after all your health comes first. Of course being a woman I know you want to be SuperWoman and do everything, but sometimes even SuperWoman needs rest, so we will be here when you are better… of course you will be missed. Please take care!

  23. Angie, I hope you can take the time needed to heal – although you sound like a gal who always has several things on the go at the same time and has difficulty slowing down to just one task. Try going for a walk when the pile gets too high. The pile will be there when you get back, unless you have a house fairy that looks after those things when you aren’t looking, :), and when you return you may be better able to do just one thing at a time – well for five minutes or so! Right now, healing is job 1. Now that we all know what you are going through, we will keep checking on you and hold you in our thoughts and prayers.

  25. Hi Angie!! I pulled my 1st rib out when I was 21 lifting a tray of celery (worked in a produce department) Anywayz, took the docs almost 2 years to figure it out. They told me the pain was all in my head!! My advice- do what the PT people tell you and keep exercising it once it settles. I can’t tell you how many times I had to go back in to get it pushed back in. I’m 33 and I still feel a numbness when I wear my purse on that shoulder (Ugggh!) We’ll be praying for you and a quick healing.
    Blessings,

  28. I’m so sorry you’re suffering like this. I had surgery on my hand last year – it’s amazing how much you can do with one hand AND is equally amazing how annoying it is to be one-handed. I hope you heal soon and completely.

  29. Angie, you are always putting everyone else first, now it’s your turn. You just take the time you need to recouperate and do it right so you don’t have to do more down the road. You should probably do some physical therapy in there somewhere also, and that will definitely get you back up to speed. You never give TMI, and in this case it is necessary to explain you situation. You take care of yourself first and get better, then come back. We are all loyal followers and until you say “I Quit” we will all be back checking your site. You take care of yourself!

I’m so glad you are starting to feel better. Maybe this will help cheer you- I stopped in today to tell you I made your Christmas Bell cookies tonight and they are FABULOUS!!!! Oh my gosh, it was all I could do to box them up and put them away so I could share them later. I love the first bite! Oh my gosh…it’s heavenly! The cherry and the orange flavors are so good together. Take care of yourself so that your left arm will be able to lift these wonderful cookies to your mouth over the holidays. 🙂 ~Janie

  33. Oh honey – don’t worry about US! Let US worry about YOU! This is a very painful condition and as much as you probably want to jump the gun, make sure you do everything the docs tell you – you need to get 110% better before you put any strain on that poor little ribby and muscle so you don’t have it become an ongoing thing.

Just think of it like this; you will learn to stamp one handed and when you can use both you will be TWICE as fast! LOL! You will be a lightening speed stamper!

Hang in and feel better – prayers coming your way!

  38. I don’t do a whole lot of commenting, but after getting back from vacation and reading your posts, I did have to jump over here and say that you shouldn’t worry about posts like this. You’re a very talented and professional individual – but we all know that the individual is also a person – a real person who has real issues and real problems. I think it brings your readers closer to you as you welcome them into your world a bit more – a little beyond the stamping. I hope you get to feeling better soon – but don’t rush it. Your readers are loyal and will be here when you’re better!
