Christmas Shopping Notebook

Good morning!
My project today is my Christmas Shopping Notebook and I take it with me everyone I go (just like my Kindle).  Every year I make a Christmas Wish List for my shopping but this year I needed something bigger and I didn't have time to make it.  I love making altered notepads but you know this year has been kinda busy & stressful.

I found this notepad at a local craft store and I added the Stampin' Up! Real Red 3/4 Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.  After adding the ribbon I felt it just needed a little something extra so I used the Merry Embosslit & made a tag.  I ran the Embosslit through the Big Shot….. I trimmed it, traced the Merry with a 2 Way Glue Pen and added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.   I attached it with Silver Cord (can be found on page 27 of the Holiday Mini Catalog) after I pierced it with the Paper Piercer on my Chic Stand 🙂

Supply List:

  • Merry Embosslit #116820
  • 3/4" Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon #115608
  • Silver Elastic Cord #109866
  • Dazzling Diamonds Glitter #102023
  • 2 Way Glue Pen #100425
  • Whisper White Cardstock #100730
  • Paper Piercer #116631
  • Big Shot Die Cut Machine #113439
  • Chic Stand

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by!

p.s. Thanks for the emails……I will shoot a Live Broadcast when I open my Occasions Mini Catalog pre-order.

Candy Holder

My project today is a candy holder and I can't think of what those chocolate sticks are called…..but ……I know they're yummy!

Candy holder

To make this candy holder all you need to do is take a piece of Merry Moments Designer Paper, cut it at 10 1/4 x 2 3/4.  Then scallop your ends with the Scallop Edge punch and then score it at 3".   Attach the sides with two brads.

Super fast, super easy and I bet you could make one of these for a boy (minus the ribbon) ….I'll work on that!  I've had lots of request for boy stuff so I'll try to whip out some masculine ideas (I'm not sure I'm good at it …but I'll try).

The items used on this project are the Merry Moments Designer Paper, Chit Chat Rub-ons, Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Gold Brads & Real Red Cardstock.

Now for a Quilting note….I glanced over the Dormant Retiring Stamp List today and guess what I saw….the Quilt Quips stamp set :O   I caught myself thinking "should I order myself another one of those just in case I misplace it" (do you ever do that?). And….. since that sent my brain in the direction of Quilting with the Big Shot Die Cut Machine I thought I would share with you my latest fabric.

Leanikafabric
It's Leanika by Dena and I'll warn you …….  it was just released & not very easy to find.  I'm sure once it's been out a while you should be able to find it.

I bought the Fat Quarters and then cut all of them with the Scallop Square Die (all three purses I've made uses those squares).  Someone ask if I thought the die would hold up cutting all that fabric……and I'd have to say yes.  It's still going strong!! Although I'll be honest & say I'm ordering another one just in case (maybe even two).

Have a good night & see ya tomorrow.

p.s. technical question here….does anybody use a blog editor program on their mac and would you recommend it?  I've googled the choices for hours today and I just can't decide which one to try.

December Free Stamp set or Purse

My post today is going to be a Hodgepodge of things!!   I’d like to start off by saying “Thanks” to all the ladies that purchased Stampin’ Up! product from me during my Black Friday Cyber Monday Sale.  Thank you!!

I filmed my first live stream on UStream today and I’m not sure if I even did it right.  It was live and I think I may have repeated myself too many times …oh well, I’m learning.  I’ll continue to educate myself on it and see what kind of fun we can have with it.  For example, posting the winners names…maybe next time I’ll just draw the name and save the release of the next months product for my blog post (I’m rattling…so I’ll stop here).

If you’d like to see that video, it’s posted on my channel on You Tube (chicnscratch) or on UStream.

The winners for the November Stamp set & purse are Dawn Guerriero & Sue Speigner.  Congrats ladies!!  Dawn, you have your choice of the purse or the stamp set….just let me know which item you’d like.

Now for the December Free Stamp Set or Purse ……. (two winners, the first name drawn will get 1st choice & it will be broadcast live on UStream).

Dec Free purse

I made this Wild Thyme purse with the Scallop Square Die & the Big Shot Die Cut Machine.  I’m working on a Tutorial and as soon as I get it figured out I’ll be sure to let you know.  This bag is my 4th attempt at a bag for my Kindle ….or is it my fifth? (I’ve since moved on and I’m making larger purses….you’ll see very soon).  I’m happy with this size and I think it’s perfect for my Kindle plus a few other items.

The Free Stamp set for December is Fox & Friends & it’s a set that will be available in January in the Occasions Mini Catalog. (If you’re a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator you can pre-order it now.)

December 3rd update….I’m very sorry but the Fox & Friends stamp set can not be given for free this month. I didn’t realize that it’s against the rules for me to give a set away before it’s available to purchase.  I’ll figure out what set I can offer you in the next few days.

My next picture is a couple quick & easy cards I made using the Fox & Friends stamp set. We all know I like cards I can whip out really fast and these darling images puts a smile on my face!!

Fox & Friends card

Next is a larger image of the purse…I couldn’t figure out which one to show you so I’m posting both of them.

Scallop Square Purse

The final picture of the day cracks me up!! Over the weekend I ask David to lift my table where I cut my fabric.  Leaning over was really getting to my back. So, I googled how to raise my 6″ table and it said to use PVC pipe.   Well, we did it…and here’s the results……

Table legs

Isn’t that funny looking?  But you know…..it works!  No more hurting my back when I’m cutting fabric!  I’m thinking I need to cover up those legs…..I see a glimpse of them from the corner of my eye and I swear it reminds me of horses legs being wrapped!

Sorry for the long post….have a great night!!

Sweet Potato Casserole

Hey there,

After sharing the picture of my Sweet Potato Casserole I’ve had several request for the recipe.  And you’re not going to believe this but I don’t have a recipe. I’ll tell you the ingredients and how I make it and then you can play with it.  I really don’t think you can mess it up ….unless you add too much sugar.

Boil your sweet potatos …yes boil them!! for years I’ve cooked them in the microwave and I promise you the boiling is the way to go!!

Once they’ve boiled and you’ve peeled them put them in a bowl & add these items:

  • brown sugar
  • nutmeg
  • cinnamon
  • cloves
  • butter (real butter)
  • vanilla

I don’t have measurements because it totally depends on how many potatoes you cook.   The way I know when it’s right is I taste it ….to me it almost tastes like pumpkin pie at this point.   Then you slowly add some evaporated milk.  Stir and add some more.  Don’t add too much or they’ll be runny (I would say half a can should do it).

Pour into a casserole dish, add your marshmallows to the top.  Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes.

Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for being a part of my life and I hope you’ve had a great Thanksgiving!!

I woke up early this morning….cooked most of the day….and now it’s over 🙂  It’s so funny……you cook for hours and hours (started yesterday) and then in less than 30 minutes it’s over.

I don’t have a stamped project to share with you so I thought I would show you my Sweet Potato casserole……it looked so pretty coming out of the oven I just had to take a picture.

_DSC0340

This picture tells a story…..every year I made this dish and it suddenly disappears.  I’m not sure which person in this house does it ….before we know it …..it’s all gone.  (We suspect it’s Brooke but she’ll never tell).   Chase decided to jump in there & look suspicious ……he’s always cracking us up!!!

Chase & sweet potatoes

I hope you’ve had some special moments this Thanksgiving season!

p.s. Tune in later this evening for my Black Friday through Cyber Monday Stampin’ Up! special.

Will be back later to share all the detail on this Flocked card 🙂

p.s. I'm having blog issues….it will not let me create a post the traditional way. My editor… where I change my font, add photos, links & videos is missing .

Did you notice something different about the Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon?  The dots were a little too busy for me so I decided to sandwich two pieces of ribbon together.  (I applied adhesive to one side & stuck them together.)

Here's a picture of the inside where I used the Christmas Greetings stamp set.  The red strip up top is where you place the Gift Card.

New Moon Treat Bags & Purse

Good afternoon,

Last night was a blast and I loved New Moon!  But I'm so stinkin tired I can hardly talk let alone type. I'll share some pictures with you and then post more details this weekend.

New moon treats

The first picture is of the goodies I made for everyone that joined me for New Moon. I think they were a hit :)  Ladies mark your calendars….June 29th, 2010 join me for the release of Eclipse.

Here's a better picture of the Quilted Flowers that went around their bags.  They're made with our Stampin' Up! big shot dies, Flower Folds & the Scallop Circles.  I also used the 1 1/4 Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

New moon quilted flowers

The next picture is of the purse I made for this special occasion.  I couldn't resist! I found this darling fabric and I just had to make myself a purse!!

Wild thyme purse

Here's a closer picture……I think I'm getting better at sewing!!

Newmoon purse

I'll try to show you some pictures from last night soon.  Get this…I charged the battery for my camera but forgot my memory card and Melissa had her memory card but a dead battery.  Julie saved us & took a few pictures.  I was so excited about the movie I forgot several things….like ordering chips at Chipotle. I always get chips with my meal and with all the excitement it slipped my mind.

Have a good night and see ya tomorrow.

p.s. Tomorrow I'll post the instructions & links for the Tall Top Note Box.

Reindeer Top Note Box

Good afternoon,

p.s. in less than 12 hours I’ll be watching New Moon….it’s going to be very hard to think about stamps or quilting tomorrow!!  I’m sure I’ll be totally obsessed with New Moon and want to talk about it all day.  That’s why we’re going to see it again tomorrow afternoon.   Get this….I made a new Rag Quilt Purse just to take to the movies.  I’m thinking I should have made a blanket given all the hours we’ll be there.
