Play Date Coaster Calendar

Play Date Coaster Calendar
Doesn’t the Play Date Designer paper work perfectly with the Rectangle Coaster Calendar?  As I was filming the video yesterday…it came to me that we had paper with numbers on it 🙂

I used the same supplies as the project yesterday…..the only difference being the designer paper.

Dream Cookies

I’ve had so many requests for my Dream Cookies that I decided to post the recipe.  Sorry I didn’t think about it earlier.   As for my MIL’s spritz cookies…I don’t have that recipe.  From what I understand it’s just Spritz cookies…..that you make with a cookie press……but I swear the green trees are magical!

Here’s the Dream Cookies recipe:
Cookies:
1 cup butter (softened)
1 cp sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp cream (or milk)
2 eggs (well beaten)
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 to 3 1/4 cups flour

Cream together butter and sugar in mixing bowl.  Dissolve baking soda in the cream(or milk) and add to creamed mixture, mix well.  Add eggs & baking powder and mix.  Add flour in 1/2 cup at a time, add enough to make the dough stiff.  Roll dough 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter.

Bake at 350 until lightly browned. (my old stove used to be 10 to 12 minutes, my current one anywhere from 9 to 15 minutes)  Usually makes around 45 cookies, if you make them thinnner you’ll get more but remember to reduce your cooking time, the cookies are more like a shortbread, not a thin sugar cookie.

Frosting:
3 oz cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cp butter (softened)
2 Tbsp milk
1tsp almond extract
Powdered sugar

Blend 1/2 cup butter, cream cheese, milk & extract in bowl (this is also when I add food coloring).  Beat in enough powdered sugar for spreading consistency.  (I usually get a knife and practice spreading on one of the broken cookies, if it’s too thick I add more powdered sugar, the more sugar you add the thinner it gets.)

Frost cookies and store in airtight container in fridge!!

Warning!!!!!  Give some of these cookies to a friend or otherwise you’ll find yourself having them for breakfast, lunch and supper!!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween | Frankie Box

Frankenstein-2010n2Yesterday we made the Frankenstein box on UStream….doesn’t he put a smile on your face?  I’ve been hooked on making Frankenstein faces since my friend Julie shared it with me many years ago. Every year we just change him up a bit 🙂

If you watched my live show on UStream….I made some changes….I figured out that his eyes needed to be bigger. So…if you like the one on the right…bigger eyes is the only difference….wait ….I also used Pear Pizzazz instead of Old Olive.

Click below if you’d like to watch a video on how to make the Frankenstein Box. Also known as Frankie Box or Franky Box.

Spirits candy bar
My project today is a Hershey Candy Bar Holder.  This idea has been around longer than I have.  In fact when I showed it to one of my girlfriends last week she reminded me of the popcorn bag holder we made using the Halloween Hedgehogs ….around 6 years ago (I need to find that sample…I know I still have it).

To get the candy bar out all you do is lift the ribbon…..I’m working on a video & hopefully it will be ready this evening.

For this one I wanted it to be quick & easy….many of us are in a hurry and and when I looked at the Nite Owl Designer Paper I knew I could make some projects really fast!  If you wanted to add some color you could use markers and color the image.

Mini Lunch Sack Treat Holder

Joy chocolate treat

Do you hate to throw things away?   For example our buttons or brad containers?  I am always stashing stuff like that away because I know I can find a use for it some day 🙂  Go with me here…I know some of you can relate!

So, long story short I made this little candy holder out of the leftover piece from the Mini Lunch Sack.  I cut the lunch sack at 4-3/8 for the Treat Bag and the piece leftover is for this project. It holds a gift card perfectly and it will even hold a Ghirardelli chocolate or a Hershey/Kit Kat Bar.

I used Early Espresso card stock with Very Vanilla. I embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder and sponged some Soft Suede over it (my replacement for close to cocoa or creamy caramel).  Next I sponged some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint over it.

The “Joy at Christmas” is from the Perfect Punches stamp set & I stamped it twice. I punched the center out with the 1-1/4 Circle Punch & added it with a Dimensional.  Did you see the little pearl?

I’ve made a video on how to make the one for my Halloween Class, click here if you’d like to watch it on my Chic n Scratch Live! website.

Here’s the version I shared on UStream.
