Online Workshop Projects

 OWaug2015b

These are the projects we made on Friday during the Online Workshop.

The first project is the Christmas Take Out Box and just as the Week 3 of the 12 Weeks of Halloween I altered the Take a Box just a tad.   You have two choices for handles … you can paint the Rebar Tiewire  or you can use the Jute Ribbon (Jute Ribbon will come in kit).

The 2nd project is the Gift Card Holder using the Crumb Cake Medium Envelopes.  I LOVE this gift card holder and will be sharing another version with my newsletter subscribers this week.

12 Weeks of Halloween 2015 Week 3

week312weeksofhalloweenb

The Howl-o-ween Treat Take Out Box is the 3rd project for the 12 Weeks of Halloween.

I LOVED making this project and I could not wait to show you!!! I held off only because the Holiday Catalog goes live on September 1st … I’m happy we only have a few more days!!

I used the Howl-o-ween Treat Stamp Set with the Boo to You Framelits and I altered the Take Out Box that can be found on page 151 of the annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

The handles are Rebar Tie Wire and you can find it in the lumber section of Lowes (or Home Depot).

I choose Rich Razzleberry for the accent color because of the Into the Woods Ribbon in the Holiday Catalog (starts on September 1st).

How to make a Butterfly Quilt

 Butterfly-quilt-final

Today I’m sharing how to make a Butterfly Quilt.

I’ve made several of them and a ton of people have ask me how I made it … so I decided to film the video.

Here’s some details:

  • Butterfly Quilt measures 68 x 70.
  • Quilt is 7 Blocks across and 8 Blocks Down … for a total of 56 Blocks.
  • I used two Layer Cakes  - Layer Cakes are Pre-cut fabric squares that measure 10 x 10 … you get 40 in a pack (you need a total of 56 for this quilt).
  • I used two Charm Packs – Charm Packs are 5″ Square of fabric (Butterfly fabric … only cut out 56).
  • This quilt needs 4-3/4 yards of backing fabric &1/2 yard of binding fabric.
  • AccuQuilt Cutting System with Critters Die (Butterfly)
  • Once my quilt top is finished I take it along with my backing fabric and binding fabric to a longarm quilter.

The picture below is the Quilt Top I made during the filming of the video.   I’ll be taking it to my longarm quilter later this week.

Here’s a video on how to make the Butterfly Quilt ….. CLICK HERE to watch the video on my Chic n Scratch website.

Click here to download the Butterfly Quilt Supply List

The Verna Charm Packs came from my stash of fabric (not sure how long I’ve had them).

Here’s a close up picture of the Raw Edges Butterfly (after the quilt has been taken to long arm quilter and then washed).

Click here to see my Quilts made with the Stampin’ Up! Flower Die and Scallop Square Die (both are retired) using the Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Click here to see my 80 Block Quilt.

You are welcome to use yards of fabric … I use Pre-Cut Fabric to eliminate stress on my shoulder and neck.  To figure out how much fabric is needed …. you will need to determine how many 10″ blocks you can get out of a yard of fabric.  As for the butterflies …. eight fat quarters is plenty (depends on size of fat quarter ….  some places cut them smaller than others).

I’ll see you tomorrow with Box of the Week 3!

Popper Box

popperbox2b

The project I’m sharing with you today was my warm up version of the Popper Box.

When I create projects I usually start out as simple as possible and then I try my best to add in a few embellishments.  Sometimes adding a few embellishments does the trick then sometimes a change in a stamp set is necessary.  I love both Stamp Sets I used above …but I LOVE yesterdays version a lot more!

For this box I used the Happy Haunting DSP with two stamp sets.  Happy Scenes and Howl-o-ween Treat … along with the Boo to You Framelits

It’s made exactly the same way as the 12 Weeks of Halloween 2015 Week 2  … it’s just decorated a little different.

Click here to download the Project Supply Sheet.
